Groove's Faves: "The Revenge of the Renegade" by O'Neil and Grell

Hey, hey, hey, Groove-ophiles! Whaddya say we travel back to July, 1976, and grab a copy of Green Lantern/Green Arrow #91? Writer Denny O'Neil and artist Mike Grell gave us a fun story (shades of The Arabian Knights!) and some super-cool artwork that blended sci-fi, fantasy, and even a bit of social commentary. If there's any kid left in ya, you'll dig "The Revenge of the Renegade!"

  1. Excellent post! I'm pretty sure this is the first issue of GL & GA I ever pulled off of the spinner rack. I remember in particular thinking it was really funny when GA called Sinestro "lobster face."

  2. There's a definite Captain Marvel/Warlock feel to this.

As for the rest of ya, the purpose of this blog is to (re)introduce you to the great comics of the 1970s. If you like what you see, do what I do--go to a comics shop, bookstore, e-Bay or whatever and BUY YOUR OWN!
